Snow cat tour, anyone??

Just introducing myself. This is my 2nd year in CO. and I had the opportunity to go back country boarding for the 1st time. Yes, I am in love. This years snow was massive to say the least, but I need a few good friends who are expert boarders to share the good times with. Next year I want to plan a snowcat tour, so I'm looking for about 8 - 10 heads. I would like to this sometime in Jan. and the place we choose is up to the majority..... I think the cost is around $400/person which includes room and meals, but I will find out more details when I can put together enough of us. I will need an answer by the end of the summer, but the sooner the better. Timing here is everything. In order to get prime season, we need to have the funds together and everything worked out by sept....so please don't waste our time if youre not 100% certain about your commitment to this.

Thanks.
Erik

Winter Snowboard/Ski Ride Share

Would love to find some people to share rides with this winter. I have 4X4 truck that will get us up the mountain and will usually bring my dog, River, if I'm driving. Also, would like to hook up with people who have avalanche training and equipment to learn more about hiking up some of the passes. Just found out that A-Basin is open-limited terrain I'm sure, but a good warm-up for the season. Planning to head up this Sunday if anyone is interested and maybe hike up Loveland Pass for a few runs. My work schedule is flexible so I'm also looking to head up on some week days as well.

If anyone is interested, 36 hours of Keystone is December 1-3. It's about a $100 for the weekend which includes pass and condo. I did it last year for the first time and it was a blast- 20 to 30 if us headed up and shared rooms, food, drinks and other party favors for the weekend. Basically, you have teams of 4 people and someone from your team has to complete a run starting at 9am on Friday morning through 9pm on Saturday night. Bring your costumes for the night runs!

Ok folks I have booked a flight to Durango for the weekend of the 16th, 2008. A couple friends and I are planning on getting some feet in the snow at Silverton. It would be fun to meet up with some of you. If you are a good skiier/boarder we are still looking for a few people to fill up our group so we can have our own guide. Go to their website for more info about the mountain.

http://www.silvertonmountain.com/

It's an awesome experience, but you have to be somewhat fit, and able to ski them double diamonds with out fear.

Durango to Telluride

I'm looking for some advise on driving from the town of Durango to Telluride. The Google says the shortest way is north on 550, west via Hermosa Park Rd, then north on 145 to Telluride. 72 miles and 2 hours 11 min of driving. Anyone familiar with this drive? Is this route subject to closure due to snow storms? I have family in Durango but have been itching to ski Telluride! Any help is appreciated.

hey folks. i'm looking to get up to the summit 2 to 3 days a week this winter. would be ideal if i could find uber cheap rent for a couple nights a week. or just having some good folks to ride up with would be great as well. i have a great new vw golf tdi so it wont take much gas, but it is still pricey to drive up and down on a daily basis. i have a nice crib in lafayette, so if any folks in the summit need a place to stay once in a while and want to do a couch surfing trade that could be sweet. i am open to any and all possibilities. so drop a line bitches.

So this weekend I went back to Breck for the first time in 2 seasons and I must be becoming a much better rider cause it felt flat with little transition. I practiced going in and out of a couple trees and went off my first real jump and landed it. (fell afterwards due to the excitment but..) Maybe I am just spoiled for riding Loveland or maybe I just need to know the best place to ride there. Mogels excluded can someone tell me where the sick parts of Breck are? Fewer people, more fun stuff?

Hello everyone, I am new to the Colorado Springs area although I grew up in Pagosa Springs and went to boarding school in Carbondale, I've never actually been to Colorado Springs before, where is the nearest place to find some good powder? I'm itching to ride, it's been a while, I having been since I had an accident at Snowmass and tore my MCL in 2000.

I have a friend coming to town in the middle of February and wondered if anyone had, or knows how to get cheap tickets for the Winter Park ski train. It's $49 a person and we're (unfortunately) only going up there to visit one of her friends.

In other news, I am completely stoked to finally get my first turns of the year in at Vail this weekend. Hitting up a condo in Vail Village this weekend with some buddys of mine. Added Bonus: It's my birthday on Sunday. It shall be glorious!

Some of the photo monologue is 'funny' but isn't riding enough of a drug that you can't save it for off the slope? Lame for a shred site, but that is JUST MY opinion...

NYE weekend

So I will be working on NYE then recovering Saturday, Sunday going to the mountians for a few runs and a few beers, hoping for some snow, last weekend was pretty scratchy, we were still able to find some fresh powder at Breck, I don't really know how we did that, well I know how we did it, but I was surpized to find anything that wasn't ice or tracked out, the secret spot off the T-bar. And if you hiked your ass off to the side and up, but even that was wind packed. And of course in Breck's style and determination to have big air comps the main terrain park was filled with ocean liner sized jumps and the half pipe of death, then off to the side in the kiddie park everything was packed in so tight and it's so flat you couldn't get enough speed to do much of anything.

My gripe - Ok so I realize that the x-games and other competitions are pushing the envelope for bigger badder parks, but who the hell is designing these places, I remember the park at Breck being one of the funnest places to get some air and laugh at all the honkeys waiting to take thier turn over the jumps and even more fun to watch then case the flat spot and stumble away with a sore ass, but they have been on this quest to make the park for nut bags only now. I'm not a pro I'll admit that, but I'm no intermediate either. WTF, another place that used to be fun was the park at Keystone before they moved it over to "AREA 51" or what ever that is called. I remember the jumps next to the River Run quad and you could watch people eat shit most of the time as you were going up the lift, and then riding them was so much fun, then they had that whole trail going down with kickers and rollers and then the mini pipe near the bottom, little pipes and rails all over the place, it was dope, it wasn't for pro's but you could really have some fun all day there. I'm really sick of this crap now.

Just joined you guys, glad to find this spot.
Went up to copper this last weekend, bathed myself in icy powder up to my knees in the trees. Found a friend's cabin in the woods, hurt my ankle badly, and had more fun than I've had all fall. But not all winter. :) The snow was so nice and the sun was out.. couldn't have asked for a better day.

I'm up to share gas and green expenses for any ride up to copper or winter park (that's my pass this year.) I'll even drive if anyone needs a ride once I get some studded tires. Just drop me a note!

So my friend Chrissy and I are planning on going to the Basin on Saturday, we would like to go Sunday too, but if anybody has a lead on a place we can crash a couch on Saturday night up there that would be most delightful. We'll bring beer or something. We don't take up much room, and were friendly, we bite sometimes.

So Kristi and I just went up for the first time this year. There's one run open at A-Basin, it was actually pretty decent for man made snow, all sorts of fun little kickers on the way down, they also have a very minimalistic park already set up. Not bad for the first week.

I just bought new bindings. I got the new Burton bindings with the toe strap that goes over the front instead of over the top. They are so comfortable and my heal feels firmly planted. FINALLY. Now I just got to get a new deck.

company for the ride up

Hey folks,,,,

I'll be going up to the mountains at least three days a week and It's always nice to have people with me to play. That's where you come in.... If anybody wants to hook up for ridding anytime (though rarely weekends,,, too crowded),, just let me know... I'm in Golden, right by 70, so it's easy to just leave your car here or we can take turns driv'in.....

I'm predominately a bump and tree skier..... but if that's not your gig,, no matter.... it's still good to have company just for the ride....and of course BBQ-ing at the base.....

later folks,

So I recently purchased a Colorado Pass, so I'm all about it as soon as the snow flies and the lifts start runnin'. I work for myself during the week so weekends are best for me, occasionally I'll close for a snow emergency during the week. It all just depends. I'm also down for some NO lift riding too.
