Just introducing myself. This is my 2nd year in CO. and I had the opportunity to go back country boarding for the 1st time. Yes, I am in love. This years snow was massive to say the least, but I need a few good friends who are expert boarders to share the good times with. Next year I want to plan a snowcat tour, so I'm looking for about 8 - 10 heads. I would like to this sometime in Jan. and the place we choose is up to the majority..... I think the cost is around $400/person which includes room and meals, but I will find out more details when I can put together enough of us. I will need an answer by the end of the summer, but the sooner the better. Timing here is everything. In order to get prime season, we need to have the funds together and everything worked out by sept....so please don't waste our time if youre not 100% certain about your commitment to this.
Thanks.
Erik
Thanks.

Re: Snow cat tour, anyone??
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 7:38 AMYou could also looking into less involved tours. I patrol at Ski Cooper, and they have a Day tour on Chicago Ridge. I think it's $250 pp that includes a Catered lunch and your awesome guides. Jan-Feb often have a some great snow.
If you like a small amount of hiking, and killer runs. Make a trip to Silverton. A few of us go every year for at least a weekend. It's usually epic and rewarding. Next best thing to a Cat trip.
I also recommend taking a Avi course. Even if it's just level 1. If your doing a bit of back country it's great to have some Beacon knowledge. Just having one doesn't do a ton of good if you don't know how to use it swiftly and effectively. It's also a fun course, out playing in the snow with a bunch of other powder whores.
